RESUMO

Una de las limitaciones para el uso de los Cuestionarios de Calidad de Vida Relacionada con la Salud y de los resultados reportados por pacientes es la dificultad de interpretar los valores obtenidos. La diferencia mínima clínica importante es una medida que ayuda a comprender los resultados de estos cuestionarios y valorar la relevancia clínica del efecto conseguido por la intervención realizada. En este trabajo revisamos el concepto de diferencia mínima clínica importante, describimos los métodos utilizados para su obtención y exponemos sus dificultades, limitaciones y aplicabilidad. Dentro de los resultados reportados por pacientes y, particularmente, en los de calidad de vida, la diferencia mínima clínica importante es una herramienta que ayuda a los clínicos a utilizar correctamente las escalas de medida e interpretar el efecto de las intervenciones. Con este artículo esperamos facilitar la implantación y uso de la diferencia mínima clínica importante y los Cuestionarios de Calidad de Vida Relacionada con la Salud en la práctica habitual con nuestros pacientes.


One of the limitations for the use of Health-related Quality of Life Questionnaires and the results reported by patients is the difficulty of interpreting the values obtained. The minimal important clinical difference is a measure that helps to understand the results of these questionnaires and assess the clinical relevance of the effect achieved by the intervention performed. In this paper, we review the concept of minimal important clinical difference, describe the methods used to obtain it, and expose its difficulties, limitations, and applicability. Within the results reported by patients, and particularly in quality of life, the minimal important clinical difference is a tool that helps clinicians to correctly use the measurement scales and interpret the effect of the interventions. With this article, we hope to facilitate the implementation and use of the minimal important clinical difference and the Health-related Quality of Life Questionnaires in routine practice with our patients.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this article was to study the relationship of self-focused attention and dissociation with the dialogical relationship persons diagnosed with psychosis have with their voices. METHOD: The DAIMON Scale was applied to 62 persons diagnosed with psychosis to measure the dialogical relationship with their voices, and the Cambridge depersonalization scale, the Tellegen absorption scale, and the self-focused attention scale. RESULTS: The results showed that the dialogical relationship with the voices was associated with high levels of self-focused attention (private and public), depersonalization, and absorption. It was also found that absorption mediated significantly between public self-focused attention and the dialogical relationship with the voices. CONCLUSIONS: The role of dissociation and self-focused attention in forming the dialogical relationship a person with psychosis has with the voices is discussed and approaches to treatment are suggested.

RESUMO

The purpose of this work was to study the relationship between self-focused attention and mindfulness in participants prone to hallucinations and others who were not. A sample of 318 healthy participants, students at the universities of Sevilla and Almería, was given the Launay-Slade Hallucinations Scale-revised (LSHS-R, Bentall & Slade, 1985). Based on this sample, two groups were formed: participants with high (n = 55) and low proneness (n = 28) to hallucinations. Participants with a score higher than a standard deviation from the mean in the LSHS-R were included in the high proneness group, participants with a score lower than a standard deviation from the mean in the LSHR-R were included in the second one. All participants were also given the Self-Absorption Scale (SAS, McKenzie & Hoyle, 2008) and the Southampton Mindfulness Questionnaire (SMQ, Chadwick et al., 2008). The results showed that participants with high hallucination proneness had significantly higher levels of public (t(80) = 6.81, p < .001) and private (t(77) = 7.39, p < .001) self-focused attention and lower levels of mindfulness (t(81) = -4.56, p < .001) than participants in the group with low hallucination proneness. A correlational analysis showed a negative association between self-focused attention (private and public) and mindfulness (r = -0.23, p < .001; r = -0.38, p < .001 respectively). Finally, mindfulness was found to partly mediate between self-focused attention and hallucination proneness. The importance of self-focused attention and mindfulness in understanding the etiology of hallucinations discussed and suggest some approaches to their treatment (AU)

En este estudio se ha puesto a prueba un modelo estructural sobre el papel mediador de la competencia personal percibida en la aparición del síndrome del desgaste profesional (burnout) y de los síntomas de estrés ante condiciones de trabajo estresantes, en una muestra de 315 trabajadores de la Universidad de Sevilla (193 docentes y 122 no docentes). Los instrumentos de evaluación fueron: un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos, el “Inventario de burnout de Maslach”, la “Escala laboral de estrés” y la “Escala Magallanes de estrés”. Para el análisis de datos se utilizaron matrices de correlaciones bivariadas y el cálculo de ecuaciones estructurales. Los modelos estimados, para cada colectivo, se ajustaron de forma satisfactoria, constatándose el efecto mediador de la competencia percibida sobre las dimensiones despersonalización y realización personal y la sintomatología de estrés. No se confirmó su efecto mediador sobre la dimensión cansancio emocional, que actuó también como variable mediadora. Además, se concluye que en el modelo estimado para los docentes adquieren más fuerza los componentes cognitivo-aptitudinales y, en el del personal no docente los de carácter emocional (AU)


The present study has tested on a sample of 315 employees of the University of Seville (193 faculty and 122 non-faculty) a structural model of the mediating role of personal perceived competence in the appearance of burnout syndrome and stress symptoms under stressful work conditions. The evaluating instruments used were: a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the Occupational Stress Scale and the Magallanes Stress Scale. Bivariate correlation matrixes and structural equation modeling were used to analyze the data. The estimated models for each group were satisfactorily adjusted, thus ascertaining the mediating effect of perceived competence over the dimensions of the syndromes depersonalization and personal accomplishment, and stress symptoms. Its mediating effect was not confirmed for the emotional exhaustion dimension, which acted as mediating variable. Furthermore, it was determined that cognitive-aptitudinal components acquire more strength in the estimated model used for faculty whereas for non-faculty, those of emotional characteristics do

El objetivo de este trabajo es construir el Inventario de Fobia a la Sangre-Inyecciones (BIPI) y determinar la fiabilidad y validez de un instrumento para medir la ansiedad y fobia a la sangre, adaptado a la población española. El BIPI recoge las propiedades psicométricas en 174 participantes. Es un inventario compuesto de 18 situaciones o estímulos relacionados con la sangre y 27 síntomas fóbicos, valorados en una escala de Likert con cuatro opciones de respuesta. El coeficiente alfa de Cronbach es .98 y posee una buena validez concurrente, convergente y discriminante. El análisis factorial identifica un factor significativo, lo que sugiere que la fobia a la sangre es un constructo unitario. Los resultados revelan que el BIPI posee unas medidas psicométricas adecuadas y es un instrumento válido y fiable para evaluar la fobia a la sangre en población española (AU)


The aim of this study was to develop the Blood-Injection Phobia Inventory (BIPI) and thus provide a valid and reliable assessment instrument for measuring blood anxiety and blood phobia in Spanish population. This study examined the psychometric properties of the BIPI in 174 Spanish-speaking subjects. The BIPI is a self-administered questionnaire of 18 items or stimulus content and 27 phobic responses that can be used on a 4-point Likert-type format. The scale had a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.98 and showed good concurrent, convergent, and discriminant validity. Factor analysis of the BIPI identified one significant factor, suggesting that blood phobia is a unitary psychometric construct. This factor explained 76% of stimulus content and 74% of phobic responses of the total variance. Results of this study suggest that the BIPI has adequate psychometric properties that make it a valid and reliable instrument to assess blood phobia in Spanish-speaking individuals (AU)

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Further questions need to be addressed in the evaluation of locus of control (LOC) in headaches, such as reducing scale length and adapting them to diverse cultural environments, as in the case of Spain. METHODS: We perform a confirmatory factor analysis of the most outstanding items contained in the Headache-Specific Locus of Control Scale in the responses of 118 patients suffering from headaches who received assistance at public health care centers in the province of Seville (Spain). RESULTS: The adjustment was positive, thus confirming the original structure of 3 factors: internal locus of control (LOC-I), health care professionals' LOC, and chance locus of control (LOC-C). Scale validation was performed by examining associations both with headache clinical parameters and psychological measures. The latter included self-efficacy, internal language, coping strategies, and pain behaviors. LOC-C results deserve special mention, supporting the idea that it seems more important to avoid that patients develop LOC-C rather than boosting LOC-I and LOC-P expectations. CONCLUSIONS: The so-called Headache-Specific Locus of Control Scale-Short Form 9 has turned out to be a parsimonious (9 items), valid, and reliable measure of headache LOC.

In this study we use linear synchronization index to evaluate the dependence ofemotional experiences in dyadic interactions. We consider the two members of a dyad(husband and wife) as a coupled dynamical systems and study the dependence betweenboth individuals’affective processes using cross-correlations (CROSS). To identify apossible direction in the coupling, we calculate CROSS for time-delayed series (-1,-2, 0,1, 2,). In addition, we evaluate the statistical significance of each synchronization indexthrough surrogate time series(AU)
